As a filmmaker, Super 8 is one of those formats that I dream about shooting. Whenever someone appreciates it and is willing to hire us for the beautiful look it creates, I’m ecstatic. The format was meant for consumers in the 60’s and 70’s. It has a nostalgic vibe that is simply irresistible and works perfectly for capturing a wedding day. With Super 8, it really is all about the moments, and having fun, so its nice to throw in some wild snap zooms or other movements that I would not dare try with digital. I was excited to return to Panorama Farms to document Philip and LilyWren’s amazing love story. I loved the intimate setting of close friends and family in the sprawling hills near Earlysville, Virginia. The ceremony location was gorgeous and overlooked the beautiful rustic barn below. After the ceremony, Philip & LilyWren dug up a bottle of bourbon they had buried to get the party started and it certainly did not stop. Their band Soul Expressions only added to the mix with an amazing performance. Also, I was especially excited to meet one of my favorite National Geographic photographers, William Allard, who was a guest at the wedding. I hope you enjoy a small look at Philip & LilyWren’s amazing wedding below!
